Hello Everyone!

I hope you are making it through this winter as climate change has hit many areas across America and other countries as well.

Clean clothing is preferable, but there will be some cleaning service done if not.

Sending monetary funds is always helpful as I can purchase coats and blankets at discounted prices at local stores. I will contact the Burlington Coat Factory. I’m sure many organizations are already helping. or have sent goods to various areas.

Thelma Harcum, Advocacy One (a pending LLC )I am a not non-profit yet, but is working on it.

However, helping others is not about a piece of paper, but from what’s in your heart.

Other items needed are personal items such as sanitizers, toothbrushes, toothpaste, handy wipes, Socks, warm hats and gloves, diapers, Sani Pads, and any other goods you might think of. I accept water in cases as well.

I am presently focusing on Texas to help in some way to distribute coats, blankets and other warm geer like hates, and gloves. There is an organization called Home Full who support the homeless there in Texas who are accepting these types of clothing.

I will be sending a box of clothing or taking them down in a truck as I start to collect from friends and family. You can write me at thelmaharcum@yahoo.com for the drop-off.

Donations can made in several ways.

Hello,

My heart goes out to all of the people affected by the Texas Unprecedented snowstorm. Surely to God, I’ve been there myself and am still trying to get things together, while helping other people.

The last year and half was dedicated to my friend Amelia who just passed of Lung Cancer. We built a friendship, gardening and life experiences. We also share grandchildren together as we are in-laws to each other.

If you are able to help in the Texas Disaster, check out this link from CNN with a listing of organizations that are on the ground and running. Check the link below from CNN.

Cute Doggie Needs Urgent Surgery-Fund Raising

DONATE WITH YOUR HEART!

Trotter Needs You

My friends’ dog is in need of surgery for a rectal tumor that needs urgent surgery.

Trotter is a Shih Tzu who is smart, loving and interactive.

Me being a nurse and helping out the owner-my daughter’s mother-in-law- who is dealing with her own lung tumor, I see a marked similarity here;; they are both in the same situation-fighting for their life. Each one is keeping the other going forward in a very special way. “Life Giving Life”

Dogs are very sensitive and they know when their owners are sick or something wrong. We have not even reached the tip of the iceberg to know how much dogs and other pets know, see, and feel about us and our surroundings. They are truly our children, and one with a keen mind and good heart.

I made a Go Fund Me campaign to help raise funds to help pay for the surgery. Go check out my Go Fund page to read more about Trotter as I have grown to love him too.

The love of a pet truly returns the love many times over and many times our pets save lives in more than one way.

Thank you for your donations! I hope you support your local Animal Shelter and Hospitals as well.

This is the Link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/surgery-funds-needed-for-friends-dog/donate

There are many ways to support your local Animal Shelters and Hospital. You can support them with monetary funds, blankets, animal foods specific, walking the pets, etc. Adoption is high on the list for supporting the shelter. When you get a pet, do some research on the breed and be sure you can take care of an animal, because it is a responsibility.

Again, this is the link for you to donate to Trotter. https://www.gofundme.com/f/surgery-funds-needed-for-friends-dog/donate

Your Support For Projects To Inspire

Hello All,

Thank you for visiting my website as I hope it inspire you in some way.

If you want to support the articles and resources available on my website, you can donate whatever you can to keep things flowing.

My Advocacy One Program is in the making and will be funded as of now with my own money.

This is will be an organization that will be informative and directional towards education, community resource information, some emergency interventions.

If you can volunteer your talent, time assist in this project, I would appreciate it.

Part of the programs is to assist seniors in knowing how to operate simple computer technology, family support in suggestions for enhancing a more quality life for you and your children. Support in disasters is high on the list. As an African-American, I feel it is important to “show up”. We often don’t get the credit for what we do at the times of crisis but with Advocacy One, there will be a showing up to let the world know that we are there in some way. A phone call, an e-mail, a card and reaching out to social medial can be instrumental in helping even if you have no funds give.

Part of the service is to monitor and speak up in the injustice that’s occurring to citizens of this country no matter who they are.

Letter writing will be one of the projects included in this organization as communication is extremely important. For specific problems, I will write letters to the company or/and resource department involved.

We are all advocate for others in some way. This program is no different from what is already occurring in many places and dates.

My background includes that of being a nurse, artist, musician, writer, and advocate all my life. Thankfully, I had some help along the way to get me through the door and to maintain a stable life today. As the oldest of 13 children, I know what’s it’s like to not have. And owning a house, I know what’s it like to get flooded out from broken frozen pipes and wondering what to do. Thank goodness to You Tube and the Internet in general, many problems can be solved. However, in today’s world, it takes a lot more than that!

Each community have some emergency program and backup programs to handle most disasters. Climate change is real and it is up to a single person many times, to help in the beginning to support in the time of need.

If you can donate to this project, I would appreciate it or if you see items on my eBay store that you might like, that helps to keep things moving. The summer is coming and I would love to see donations go to teaching children how to swim. Black children have the highes rate of drowning than any other children in this country. I would like to see that change.

Though I myself had a fear of water, I took 2 rounds of swimming lessons to learn how to swim. I believe I will survive as I’m a great floater. There are many great causes to advocate for, as you too, are an advocate and can help to make a better world.

If you would like to be a volunteer, please contact me at thelmaharcum@yahoo.com.

or Thelma Harcum PO Box 4746 , Cherry Hill, NJ 08034

Part of what I do is to gather items for disaster survivors, childrens’s gift bags of books and personal items in shelters and known places of need and resource and information sharing, etc.

“WE CAN DO THIS!” WE CAN DO THIS!”

The lost of accreditation is not because of a academic problem, but because of an unstable financial status problem.

Donations have been given by many and I’m grateful for that! However, they are short of 2Million dollars by Feb 1, 2019 deadline. (update: They are now up to 95% of their goal!)

Donate to Book and Art Supply Bags For Children’s Summertime Fun

Hello  Everyone,

It’s that time of year again when I reach out to others to gather supplies for children

art and book supplies to place into bags for children to have activities to do in the summer.

Though this is something I do  year around because I of the opportunity to be in contact with families  with children.

I hope you are making plans for your children to be active in activities that will enhance their lives.  May it be a new hobby, sport, or a simple learning opportunity in an interest the child has.

On the nasa.org  website,  there are many learning activities that are not only space related, but relatable science experiments that affect your life in general  and  earth.  They have a great stem program as well.

I have 2 grandsons and both are champion basketball players, but the younger one who’s  11 years old,  want to learn cooking.  I just think that is great!  Now, I have to relay, that both boys are addicted to the video games and that seems to be almost the norm for many other families.  It is a serious matter, because how much of life are they not knowing about?    I mean the simple things.

One of the ideas I have, and because many families don’t have the money to spend for camps, and various other programs, that there be  something the community can do to keep children busy. Many families are already doing child share and care.  So many parents have to work and rely on other parents in the community that they have made friends with to take turns in watching children who might be alone those hours the parents work.  If you have that type of relationship with your neighbors,  what a great thing that is.

Now,  getting back to my summertime idea is for individuals get together  who are experts in a subject and to offer free classes in their homes or even in their yards, patios  and in the parks.    Have everyone pack a great lunch,  bring pencils and paper and get creative.

I had such an event at my house with pony rental and all.  It was a great day.  It was spontaneous in many ways.  Those  there,  were asked to teach something in 20 minutes or so  for the children to learn something.  My teaching in the group was to show what you can do with a scarf in 4 to 5 different ways. Someone else showed some karate self-defense lessons,  Another taught some sign language  basics. It was a great day as the workshop had flower arrangement,  wood work building,  nail painting, makeup designs,  tee-shirt painting,  coloring etc.

My mother , who drove from an hour away, bought 4 more children when things was almost over.  They were all in for the food and to pick up their tee-shirts to design. I felt like it was my second shift as we started at 8 am. The neighborhood children all strolled over at 2 pm. I was  glad they came, but they missed a lot of the other fun.  The Pony rides was over and so was the Expert demonstrations.

She said I was really advertising as I had on full body tights with a belt,  two

hair braids with a headband and barefoot.  I never thought about it as advertising as I hardly had time to get dress with pant, blouse and shoes. I  was so in it, that I never gave it a thought. I open the door and a beautiful pony was at the door standing with the owner.   If I can find a picture of it,  you would agree with my  mother.  However, when you are a grass root person, you don’t have time for trivial things.

There’s a lot you can do for your children this summer. The most important thing is to keep the lines of communication open and know where they are at all times.

Personally, I never pick up a child even when they are with my very own , unless I have them call for permission, name, telephone number and any medical concerns such as peanut allergies etc.

Talk to others about the plans they have for their children.  If you can,  give your child swimming lessons.  There are many drowning accidents with small children who wanders into the swimming  pool area and  children who can’t swim.  The stats are  high in that more African-American children have more drowning deaths than other ethnic groups.  The affordability and accessibility have a lot to do with many families who do not sign their kids up.  My theory is for the adult parent in the home learn to swim so that in the event it become  necessary, you can jump in and save your child.  The rule always stay,  that if you don’t know how to swim, don’t jump in, but instead go or call for help and or find a pole (a broom for an instance) or empty plastic container  that  will help the person stay afloat.  Consider having a close circuit monitor in your home that will put in view your swimming pool.  And again, an alarm to attach to your  pool gate could be the best safety measure. It don’t hurt to research the rules and regulations of having a pool in your community and to view your insurance policy to  ensure  you have enough coverage in the event someone get hurt.   Make sure you know which of your child’s friends can swim and who can’t and have various swimming vest sizes on hand.   For a large party at the pool, you might consider hiring a  certified  Life Guard.  (sounds extreme, but what a piece of mind)     Lets hope that everyone be safe and have fun in the water no matter  where you are.

Make this summer a family event whenever you can.  Family time is very important as it seems today, hardly anyone meet up, event  for dinner due to complexity in schedules.  Nature centers are all around and many cost very little if any, to visit.

What I want to leave you with is the thought of Planning.  There is much we all can do and one of them is to make a plan in advance  Make a plan now for all that you want to do later.

Planning for your child’s vacation  be about fundraising such as  selling items you no longer need and budgeting  to have the funds you need.    Look for those great deals such as a discount with the second child-or the third child free.  Your community paper will have lots of offers I’m sure.  I will update interesting places and things to do!

Thank you for visiting my site. Thank you for any contribution you give and wishing you the best of health and life!

Win a door prize from the list: Jewelry, sequined tote bag, a copy of my album-Love Songs Explosion. 10 winners will be selected for your donation of any amount.
