Walter Lomax Jr., Md who  gave a gift of a lifetime.

Date: August 23, 2018        Time: 9 am to 7 pm

Lots of workshops, lectures, cooking classes, yoga and round-table discussions of community concerns by the experts from universities, medical, and community.

He started and funded the “Only Black Owned-Operated Talk Station in Pennsylvania”.

We want to thank Dr. P. Walter Lomax  Jr., MD for leaving a very precious legacy and gift of a voice  to express ideas, solutions to problems, resources and events via  the Spectacular and Informative radio station WURD 900 AM. The  focus of this radio stations  is  finding solutions, resources and resolutions  to improve the life of the community and surrounding communities in the Delaware Counties and to all who want to be a part of the WURD family at 900AM  .  http://www.wurdradio.com

The WURD radio station is now global with an addition station to tune to  with a now, FM station on FM 96.1  That alone, is a celebration showing growth to expand WURD to the world.   Many of the problems occurring in Philadelphia is also happening in many other places.

What make WURD  radio station work are the brilliant hosts and informative guest   who bring new ideas and thoughts to the shows and community callers who are In honor of Dr. P. Water Lomax Jr.dedicated in enhancing the vision of Dr. Lomax.

I want to thank Sarah Lomax-Reese and Dr. Lomax’s wife, Beverly Lomax  for continuing the legacy of Dr. Lomax as well as all of  Dr. Lomax’s  Children (I just found out there are six children-most all work for the WURD company and many behind the scene  workers, supporters and members. )    Their loyalty and strength  to keep the station continuing  is commendable-even in times they wondered if the station still had its original need and  purpose to continue; the catastrophic  occurence like Katrina put that thought aside.   With Katrina, the community exploded with concern for what poor people was going through as humanitarian  commitment of our government was not there for marginalized people of color affected,  lost not only their lives, but their homes and way of life.

For the Best Radio Station in this World, you must be a part of this wonderful Radio Station. Your life will be better for it. Not only is it a place to give your voice to your thoughts and ideas,  but to be educated and receive  resources; thereby, giving you a more positive experience and enhancing your life.

WURD can be a life-changing experience.

We all must get on board and support this station as if our lives depend on it. It is as comparable as voting.  Your vote is important,  your membership is very important.

The membership and to advertise at this station helps and is much-needed  to bring in excellence in anyone who can contribute  their knowledge and/or expertise to the station; thereby,  giving the community information that others keep from them.   Many of us in the community have been kept in the dark and brainwashed to the point that we only see one system.  As a people, we must always know we have great talents and intellect  to contribute many attributes  to society and to our families.

I truly see Dr. Walter Lomax as a gift from God. He, Dr. Lomax  saw the need and fulfilled it in a most compassionate way-A voice!  A Voice!  A VOICE!  People who don’t see us will hear us for sure.   May WURD Radio station  continue to do the work they do and shine the positive light  for Growth,  Wisdom and Peace.

P.S.  I will give you an update as of how much I loved going to the  Dr. Walter P. Lomax founder’s day celebration.  This is my first event to attend with the station,  though they have had many.  I listen to the station everyday and have learned so much from many of the amazing hosts as well as the WURD family who call in to contribute information.   This   article was written the day of the event  as I was not sure if I could make the event.  At least I could do this-write an article- as I have been having walking problems due to a  sciatic nerve episode for the last 4 weeks; and is now feeling almost back to myself.  However, I  was able to make the event and enjoyed it immensely!!!  So much information, thoughts and ideas to what is happening to our community and in the world today that affects many; especially, brown and black people- inclusive, the so-called African-Americans.   Truly,  WURD 900 AM  and 96.1 FM  is what I would say one of the Best Radio stations in and out of America.   This is a place of Love, education, sharing, and the exchange of  information,   all rolled up into one.

Thank you again to Dr. Lomax and his beautiful Family for continuing  Dr. Lomax’s vision and passion.    This station is now all of our passion as we truly feel as if we belong some place.

Aretha Franklin Will Always Be Remembered With Love, Honor and Respect

A memorial to Aretha Franklin

THE ARETHA FRANKLIN WE ALL LOVE

My condolences  to the Family and Friends of Aretha Franklin, the Queen of Soul as we know her, and a great person as well,  who have just transitioned to the other side today.  She truly had a heart of gold  and was loved,  honored, and respected by the world.

Aretha has accomplished so much in her life since she was a young child, singing in her father’s church to studying at Julliard,  and  had great parents who encouraged her to be who she has been in this life. She  has given us the gift of music and joy in her  expressions of words to music like no other musician.  She was an amazing song-stylist who could reach many dimensions in her vocal attributes.

To celebrate her life, let us remember Aretha by lighting a special candle in her memory and to go out and do something good for society to make this a better world.

Also to celebrate her life, go out and buy her music. The latest one I have is
“Aretha Franklin Sings The Great Diva Classics”  .  I was so impressed that she even sang one of Adele’s songs that is quite difficult to sing called, “Rolling  in the Deep” (the Aretha Version)  Other songs on the tape are, “At Last”,  “Midnight Train To Georgia”,  “I Will Survive”,  “People”,  “No One”,  mix of  “I’m Every Woman/Respect”.  There’s a booklet that come with this album where you will get all the song credits she sings on this album and some bio about Aretha Franklin’s life.  This album was put out by RCA and co-produced with Clive Davis.   Tracks Producted by Kenny “BabyFace” Edmonds, Terry Hunter, Harvey Mason, Jr., Eric Kupper and Andre 3000 Benjamin.

You will truly love this album and feel inspired by it.  I keep it in my car Cd Player at all times.  If music was ever to be called medicine,  “The Aretha Franklin Sings”  album is it!

We will miss you Aretha and I know you know, that so many love you and will remember all you have given us.

Aretha’s life started with spiritual closeness to God and ended with an enduring closeness to god.  She always kept spirituality and faith close to her heart where singing of spiritual   songs was always a part of her singing repertoire as well as R&B.

Though we might say she is queen of soul,  but to most of us, she was just “QUEEN” . (period)

ARETHA

WE LOVE YOU

WE HONOR YOU

WE RESPECT YOU

AND . .. . . . . WE THANK YOU !!!!
