Residents of Trenton Center West Waiting for A Response to No Air Condition in Their Units

Hello  Friends and Associates,

Since hearing about this story, which was reported by NBC 10 News network, I have been very concern about the people at the Trenton Center West of Trenton, NJ, as of the condition they were living under with no working air condition; especially, with this extreme heat reaching 100-102 degrees.  I spent part of Thursday and Friday morning calling the Mayor’s office and lefted a message  with  the  apartment management’s office as of updates on the crisis there at the Trenton Center West. But no updates.  Channel 10 News did give me the address of the address there and being the weekend, he had just got in and didn’t see any more updates.  However, I appreciate them doing a great job going out to review the situation and I know the residents appreciate it very much.  One of the reasons for the Press is to give voice to the people who need to tell their story to the world, giving them a voice in ways they can’t.  Also, this is my focus and cause as a nurse, human being and in support of the Organization I name, Advocacy One, which is a pending organization as I function in it as a Nurse and advocate for the people.  Because I still work as a nurse, I hardly have time to set up a non-profit, but I do take donations for what I step-up to do.  What I do, is bring attention to a crisis situation via direct contact to get resources, sharing information, and reaching out to friends to give support to the situation. One of my backgrounds as a nurse is working in Mental Health Crisis of all sorts and to recognize a problem when I see it. Mental Health is a big part of that cope of experience. I worked now mostly in respiratory, trach and vents.  The present American political environment has an increase in the mental health stress on many people’s lives for a long period of time and so you see an increase in crime, deteriorating health, and homelessness of many people.

I planned to visit Saturday, July 4th.  And it was another hot day with temp to go as high as 104 degrees, but I made it there.  As I pulled into a parking space, I saw a lady in a convertible out giving a dinner to someone siting on the bench near a tree with another lady. I don’t know if she was visiting a relative or a friend. I told them who I was and that I was checking on them about the  lost of their air condition in their units.  I got a big, “Thank you” from another lady sitting on a bench by a tree.   The management office was close when I entered the building.  There was a security at the desk who was pleasant- it was her second day there, she said.  I spoke with one of the residents there in the lobby and I asked how he was doing and he told me about his heart problem and was in need of a stint for a partial blockage he had. He was on medication for Angina and he monitor his exercise program. He was not having angina at the time.   While we sat there in the lobby-I had asked him to sit for a minute-I noticed there was cool air coming out of the vent of the air conditioning unit there in back of us.  I said to him, “Do you feel that air, cool air coming out? Why is there air condition here and none in your units?” He was surprised too and said, “Yea, how come they have it here and not in our apartment?”

After speaking with this gentleman, I decided to go outside and sit and talk with a few people as they sat nears some trees with a breeze rushing through as they sat on another area bench and listened to music. (I saw a contentment on the faces of this group of residents listening and one singing to the music coming from seem to be a music Karaoke system) I asked if they needed anything and they said they were ok. They had enough water and food for now. They all looked very well-groomed.  I commented to them how nice they looked and to hang in there. I saw an uplift in their face with that comment.  One of the gentlemen said, that they are used to things not working.  Another gentleman said he’s tire of talking about the situation, hanging his head down as if in pain. I rebounded with the subject of getting my granddaughter to come and dance to the music they were listening to. Funny he said, “But it’s too hot for her to do that”.  I said, “She wouldn’t care. if she could bring some joy to your lives.” He chuckled.

There was another lady who I spoke to, said she can’t hear-pointing to her ears  with a big smile- she did not have her hearing aid in.  I said, “OK, I understand”.  So, what do I pick up from that situation. You can imagine. Perhaps this is her way of handling the crisis. Just, black out!  It’s the way I feel about my phone ringing all the time from the robot callers. I only leave the vibrate on, but sometimes hardly hear that. It is at least of having some control. So, control and the lost of control could be an important way of looking at this situation. As I was leaving, one of the ladies said that the mayor and other state people was there the other day to see what was going on with the air conditioning in their building.  So that was good to hear. So, I said, that perhaps they are investigating is coming up with a plan to restore the AC to the units.

And so, Monday is the day of follow up to see what the plans for restoring air conditioning back to the people who live at the Trenton Center West.

To note: I used no one’ names in this article of people I spoke to there at the Trenton Center West, because I came as a caring citizen over that of being a reporter.  Also, the people need to be protected and permission to use their name need to be obtained.

As update of what is happening there with the air conditioning being restored will be communicated here as soon as I know something.

The School Year Mindfulness About Your Child’s Education, Preparedness, Safety

Back to School Plans and Issues
Hello everyone,

There is so much to do to prepare your child for school, and we know that your many efforts are made to help your child get a good start with continuing their education.  This is always a great time for everyone, but it can be stressful, too.

On the other side, the schools are also trying to put it all together. It’s staffing, transportation, staffing schedules, food menus, curriculum, and safety plans for all who attend.  But it goes on and on to include the environments, medical personnel and emergency planning.  Communication to parents, and presenting activities for your child to join is also on the list of School as a Educational Mecca.

So, as you see, getting an education is a massive structure and a force to be reckoned with.  The most important is your child, the star of the show.

Your child will grow with all the resources offered to them to shape and reshape the world we live in.  The influence of what school’s offer can be more involved than what you learn at home, which is another entity in that it presents many of the policies, rules, and regulations of a school.

So, where does the child escape to get a break? I would say to their room or a Library.

A place to breath, think, and organize is what is expected of them from teachers and their parents can be over whelming to many students.

What is the parent’s responsibility to support your child’s education process and life in general?  I would say conversation. No day should pass without that important contact.  With parents, it’s body language that the parents pick up on, and sometimes with children, it’s the ear plugs that shut it down because they just don’t feel like hearing another adult authority for that day.  I guess you are wondering where I’m going to with this.  Let’s say Reality.

What I say might not be for all children or parents, because each family have its own dynamics, such as the number siblings in the home, culture, single parent, tradition parent unit, or mixed parent unit-be it a grandparent, single father, or parents of the same sexual orientation.  Yes, this can go further: are there pets in the home?  if so, what is the responsibility of the school-age child. What are the rules about using social media and video game playing in the home?

It all come down to rules that both the child and parent understand.

This is when chore boards become handy and just a family group discussion, should be made so that everyone will be on the same page.

When rules are not followed, then there should be adjustments to the decision of what it will be.

In the real world, we all must face repercussions when you don’t follow rules and regulations. Most rules are made to protect someone or to prevent something bad from happening.

This article is written to express how important it is to prepare for school.

Education is to be respected and given every opportunity to insure your child get is a major priority and that giving your child nutritional foods to eat at all times or substituting other foods when you don’t have your usual foods to eat. Eating breakfast foods for dinner is not a bad thing as long as you are getting the nutritional values. Having fruit and healthy snacks available will prevent those unhealthy calories that can impact your child’s health.  All in the family should know who have food allergies, as well as other allergies.  Cleaning becomes a big part of any place you are. So, cleaning chores should be on the list as well. No fun eating with ants all around you.

Parents and children can leave little notes as reminders and also verbalize, such as, “Mom, I’m going to be late coming home, because I’m trying out for basketball, could you pick me up afterward?” or from the parents, “Don’t talk to strangers”, and “Lock the Doors and recheck that they are lock when you come in. ”  This is when a family schedule Board or Activity board comes in handy.

So, what do all of this come to? COMMUNICATION, COOPERATION, UNDERSTANDING, APPRECIATION AND SAFETY

Have an Emergency Plan on your Refrigerator and discuss. Such as where to go if a parent is late getting home, where to go in the event they get locked out. Perhaps, you can leave an extra phone hidden somewhere for your child to call if locked out. Schools are cutting down on children bringing phones to school.  I understand the reason behind that thought, but what I’m concern about more is a dangerous weapon or drug a child might bring to school.

So, the family is the first corporation, where all working parts must work.  Like a car, you must take care of it, or it won’t be there for you.

Reward your child for good behavior. It works. They are all part of the corporation and what they do to keep it together is to be commended.

When you see the intelligence of children today, they will pick up and Intergrated in their little minds, just what the family need to keep it all together.  Such as cutting out the lights when you don’t need it to lower the electric bill;  and not running the water if not using it-2-

I’m the oldest of 13 children, and with that family dynamic, it was very different and complex to say the least. The older children become the 2nd set of parents living in the same house!  I myself is a African- American mother of one child. and I enjoyed having a wonderful exchange student from Brazil living with us for a year. Being a Pediatric nurse and studying child psychology helps to understand family dynamics and more!

Enjoy Each Day All of God’s Wonders

Following The Light from Darkness

Hello Friends, Family and Associates,

Yes, there’s a lot going on and with so much happening, do take a break and enjoy the nature around you as it is a gift from the most supreme being.  But keep alert at times when you have rested and refocused your thinking and life in general.

Do share information you know that can be helpful to others. I just got a new computer as the other one cracked and just about died.  Other problems that kept me off the computer was technical that seems to have worked its way out.  I just ordered a McAfee antivirus, which is important to any computer and phone.

I hope all those people who is suffering the tornado yesterday and those others in the Midwest, and south of USA is continuing to reestablish their lives. It’s tough when the support you thought you had from this white house administration, is now, not supporting all the way.   So, those homeowners insurance policies are important! Need I say more.

Otherwise, it good to be grateful to all the people-friends, relatives, neighbors and even strangers who show up to help.  We are truly in this together.

At this time in all of our lives, it’s good to make that plan to stabilize your well-being, financials, your spending, and family connections. You just never know when you will need that support.

The most important thing is to keep America and its Democracy in your head to know who we are and who we want to be.  It’s not our fault that the money in this country have been misused and wasted.  We are people who want the best for ourselves, families, and country.

Look at all the lives losted because people don’t want to sit down and talk.  It is unprecedented to see so many people dying all over the world, and for what reason.  It doesn’t make any sense; as we look towards the future, we must stop the thinking of even attempting a nuclear war.

One thing this government can’t take away from you is your soul and your heart.  So, keep the good spirit and try to bring others into the good spirits.  There are enough problems in the world, besides, planning who you should dislike, manipulate, and torture.  That is real waste. But believe it or not, it’s almost human nature to bring in the dark side-from which I believe we all have-and let your light shine. The battle of the mind is a powerful thing, so please control the dark and look for the light and beauty of the world.

And so, the fight is on to keep the true freedom we have and the goodness it brings to the future for you, your family and the world.

This is still America, you can still vote, you can still protest what’s injustice, read books, and make great decisions and help others who are down right now.

As an African American, I know that others don’t share our history and those are the people that are suffering the most, because, they thought they had a pass for whatever reason and now, they see, that the serpent really don’t care for them, too. They just never seen this type of serpent before and have not been bitten. However, I’m sure they have a history I don’t know all about, too. Unless we share each other stories, we’ll never know.

So, getting back to what I mentioned in this article in the beginning, take care of yourself and then you can be strong to take care of others.  If you are feeling anxious at this time, believe me, you are not alone and this is normal as your life you feel in not in your control. However, you must continue to live, seek medical help, seek the support of others, and make a plan to continue your life and make goals within your reach and present space.

The serpent venum paralyzes so as to consume you-as you see all around you-people confuse and don’t know which move to make-and so, remember to keep moving, be alert and to be proactive. Take a Break for your own health and know that there is a Supreme God.

The American United Front for Democracy and All Things Inclusive, Equal and Diverse

Hello All,
Each day is a new day and a new order to tear down our Democracy and our rights as American and Native Americans from the present political administration at the White House.
It is truly a sad thing that the country will fall in such a quick manner and the hopes and dreams of all people from here to around the world will be affected. Greed and the lack of true integrity will crumble the country at a fast
rate as there is another side of the pull down of the people who are defending to save themselves by the various measures to do so; such as not purchasing products that is not necessary and some necessary.
So, there are 2 factors working hand in hand that could put a complete stop to the day-to-day events that make America grow and succeed. Like a game of football, there is a defense position and offense-to compare the two to today’s political events. Which one wins is anybody’s guess. It all depends on how the ball roll.
You cannot stop a hurricane; only to watch the destruction as it does its damage. To pick up the pieces mean
to start again. Will there be that opportunity to start again? Will there be unity in the American system, may it be family or the government. Right now, hardly no one can trust what the government can do or even to know what they are allowed to do. If you a resourced agency and suddenly handcuffed, not much you can do. Will children and family starve for the lack of funding and other resources?
I truly believe it will be the people who will be the ones with helping hands and conscience to dig you out and share in order for you to survive.
Families can build a stronger unity to support  their families and community.  The next 4 years with this administration, the United States of American will not exist as we know it.
So, keep save your old books, stock up on food and/or grow food if you can, and make strong ties with your family and community. It’s about survival in the rawest form (shelter, food, water, safety. ) We are in an emergency.  If people are making plans for you and altering your life, should you not be making plans for yourself and your family?
A complete shut-down is what is require for the present administration in Washington, DC to completely
destroy Democracy -and perhaps enable them to call Marshall Law. But will that happen? We will see.
If the Genie is in the bottle, can it be taken out?
But the fact to the vision is that \We are the Genie who is already in the bottle of America; so, can we be removed from the American’s Bottle. What is the answer? ______________

Standing Up For Democracy, Standing Against Racism and Hate

Peace not War, Love not Hate
Moving America Forward and Pushing Against Negative and Destructive
Forces That Divide Our Country

Hello All,

Yes, the election is over and as we press forward, we are in a question of what America Stands for. Truly, the world could be a better place and to be better, we all need to think about how.

The progress we have made in this country-and I’m speaking as a citizen- must be maintained and to grow with the times.  America is great and to say it’s not, is not being true to what we have achieved.  We do live in a diversified world and a diversified USA.  It is the input of all of us to bring the best of each culture. Everyone contribute something.

It is up to each one of us if we want to join as one or if we want to be continue with the freedom and liberties we have today.  It is an individual decision.

All I know, that when serious blunders are place in your way for growth and development, you go nowhere.  Going nowhere, means not only death to your life, goals, and ambitions, but to the world.

I do believe we should be promoting peace, not war.  Mankind should be intelligent enough to make a fair decision when disagreements occur.  We see the results, of what happens when communication is broken down and/or the big fish constantly eat the little fish.

However, we are human beings who want the best for all of our family and for others. At least that is the way it should be.

So, be true to yourself and remember, that earth is fragile and we all need to protect, respect, and share what was gifted us all as a people of the world.

This is my little bit on What we need to keep mindful of as we weather the wind.

Hate and racism should not be the Poster Child of America!

It is a individualize decision of who you want to be and how you can change your thinking toward a more positive thinking; therefore, a more positive person who is true to themselves.

Dealing With the Extreme Heat

SURVIVING THE EXTREME HEAT!

Hello Friends and Associates,

It’s been a while since I’ve written anything on my post. With so much going on, I’m going to talk about some of the issues in parts and pieces of what have occurred in recent events.
One of the concerns is with the weather. The climate change has really affected many of our lives as the extreme heat have alter our way of living.
Keeping cool has been trying for many as we try to survive and function
in our everyday lives. Fans just won’t do it for such extreme heat, so if you know someone who has a fan, try to encourage them to get to cooling centers during the time of the highest temperatures. Invite friends who don’t have air conditioners, invite them to your house if you feel this is the issue.
You can google just where the cooling places are. Most are at libraries. That is a good thing as you can read and relax in a comfortable setting.
Keeping hydrated is very important. I’ve never drank so many bottles of Gatorade as I’ve done in the pass 2 weeks. So, make water your best friend and keep any eye on signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and stroke.
Wearing cool loose clothing is helpful. We all know that lighter color clothing reflex light over dark colored clothing.
Surviving the heat is science and creativity connect.
https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/heat-exhaustion/symptoms-causes/syc-20373250
I keep an igloo in my car for storage of water, protein snacks, and often place any medications and cosmetics there to keep cool and to prevent a chemical breakdown from the extreme heat. You don’t want to drink bottled water that have been exposed to extreme heat dued to the break down of the chemicals in the bottle.
Buying a car window sun shield can cool your car by as much as 40 degrees, so
I would consider that an investment in preventing the wear and tear on your car’s interior.
Enjoy your summer as much as you can and to know that when at the beach, the weather there can be as much as 10 degrees lower that in a city.
Trees are important in our lives for this very reason.
Think about planting a tree in your yard to balance the extreme heat we are all facing. Encourage stores and shopping centers to plant some trees among all that concrete.
You can be an advocate of controlling climate change just by the little things you can do. Turning off your outside light at night and replacing them with solar lights can be a big help or just have them on your house or property for light and safety. Turn off your air conditioner whenever you think you are cool enough or place your settings on low whenever you can. Use fans in between reduced temperature change.
Tasking the power grid is something we want to consider not to do. You also don’t want an unnecessary high electric bill. Somehow, I believe the electric company is controlling over usage to a point. Something to explore about what they do to keep and maintain electric usage during
extreme heat periods.
Looking forward to hearing from you all and with well wishes to a safe and healthy summer!
**** When you can, invest in insuring your child and you too, to learn how to swim. it’s a bit off the subject, but water is another way to cooling down. Cool showers and swimming pools are great fun and great cooling options. Don’t forget sprinklers. Sprinkler don’t cost much to set up and great for your grass and plants as you can move a sprinkler around.
Yes, you can survive the extreme HEAT!!

What are ways you keep cool during these massive heat waves?  I would like to hear from you!

Thank you for visiting my blog. I’m looking forward to writing
more interesting articles that might also concern you!
” Be Thankful, Be grateful”

Other subjects to come will be about. . . . .

  1. Consumer issues, what to do when you have been overcharged in a service

  2. What do Democracy mean to you. Will you advocate for Civics to return to our children’s educational curriculum?

  3. Saving on car service, using coupons, research yourself as much as you can about a problem and seek a network of people with idea about the problem.

  4. The fight to save our children from drug use, and making better choices on friends who are positive, focus on great goals in their lives, and how to promote better health with healthy foods, exercise and knowledge.

  5. How to share your information with others. Why you need to be engaged with others for a different viewpoint and learn the updates and news around town of events that can affect you and your family.

Yes, I’m sure, you are thinking to yourself. This article is very different from any I’ve read. You are right. As a progressive person,
ending my article with what’s next, is like the movies or what many other people add to keep their viewer interested and coming back; its all of those things. But most of all, it helps me to focus into what to discuss in the next blog, while giving you a heads-up on what’s highlighting in people’s lives today and even some of what’s on your mind.
Cheers!

Keep Your Balance In Life

Hello Readers, Friends, and Family,

I hope you are having a wonderful day and have great plans for tomorrow.

So much has been occurring in the news and in all of our daily lives.

It can be difficult to keep up with everything, I’m sure.

I still think keeping a notebook handy to write notes in is one of the best things to do to keep up with all the changes that hit you all at one time.

Having patience and standing your grounds when you need to is essential to your independent thinking, integrity, and well-being.

Keeping a balance also means enjoying those moments of space in time to rejuvenate and just let your hair down.

Next to writing things down that will help you remember, is communicating with others and sharing information that could be useful to them.  For an instance, texting to friends where the lower gas prices are in your town and any recalls on foods, medicines, and other items that could affect one’s life.

Monitoring your health is one of the most important things you can do to keep a balance in your life.  That means, annual medical check-ups, eating healthier, and drinking your daily requirement of water.

Other ways of keeping a balance is your financial health.  Keeping up with your bills, and a good savings plan, all are a part of your well-being.

This is not the last issue on balance but cutting down on clutter really help you to have space to be more creative and a clear mind.  Things accumulate over the years, but there are so many ways to lessen the pain of clearing things out be it be giving things to goodwill, salvation army, restore habitat, selling online, and throwing out things no one can use.

So, keeping a balance in life can be the challenge, but by doing a little at a time and being focus, you can have a better quality of life.

Making your “To Do List” is easy. A lain piece of paper can be mapped out to add other items on it as well such as doc tors appointments, shopping list, birthday of the month list, etc. Once you’ve  made a  blueprint copy of your “To Do List”, you can make copies with your printer and add a space for your date and time. When I get a chance, I will make one, or you can check on a website that have free forms.  Its more exciting to make your own.

Chow, for now. There’s a lot to talk about.

Focus For The New Year

Hello Readers,

Happy holidays to you and your families.  I’m glad to be back as I recover from a unexpected fall.  Being in the medical field myself, really help me to understand so much about the care needed to get better.  This is why I write about safety often on this blog, because so much can happen in a blink of an eye. Most falls are accidental, or dued to negligence of some sort.  Do be safe in everything you do. Most people recover from a fall, but other can have lifetime injuries that can be life changing.

As we approach the new year, have you been thinking of how you can improve our present situation with so many changes that have occurred this year including the Pandemic, climate change and war?  Have you reflected back to what you have already contributed to make the world better in some sort of way? And now, as you plan for your future, are you doing something for yourself to enhance your health, financial and family connections?

Though we can’t solve all problems of the world, it is those little things we do to make a dent in not only yourself, but that of others.

Give yourself credit for all the wonderful things you do for others.  Even write it down if you need to, because we forget all that we have done for others and forget your own needs.

Again, well wishes for you for the holidays, and always think a little about tomorrow.  There’s a lot to talk about as we head into 2024. Praying for peace in the world could be the best start.  Saving Earth from the turmoil of humans towards each other, is truly something to be concern about.

Yes, there’s a lot to talk about and do. Climate change have made more people homeless than ever before.  Affordable homes are greatly needed and equality in education and pay really affect the American economy. Just one piece of the puzzle missing will not give you the complete picture, to see, understand, and react for change.

Thank you for visiting this blog.  My best advice for the year is to stop, look, listen, learn and react.  Be grateful for all you have, and don’t take anyone for granted.  Even if someone you really don’t care to be speaking to them-someone you know already and is sane- it’s good to respond back in some form, because they deserve that respect as a human-being.  There is such a thing as limited friendships. Some friends you know you can talk about certain subjects and others you can’t.  You’ve got to know your people.  Seriously!

With so much tracking going on, you don’t have to say in your texting, exactly where you’re going or coming from to those you don’t want to share that information.  To yourself, be your own best friend.

Talk soon, (looking forward to your comments.)

Get Your Vitamin D In Naturally

Sif Jakobs Jewellery

How Vitamin D Work

Hello Everyone,

Today is a nice warm day here in New Jersey. It has been so cold these last 5-6 days and with the bit of snow that slowed down the community to a turtle’s stroll.
My idea of a natural Vit D uptake is to open your car’s sunroof and let the sun radiate into your car.
It also warms your car so you can turn the car’s heater off.
Yes, take advantage of just going outside and soaking up the sun with walks anywhere.
It has been reported that many of the covid patients were deficient in Vitamin D. It makes you wonder what else is the body deficient in.
So, stay healthy, think positive, and bring cheer to others by sharing what you know and being kind.

Eating well-balanced meals go a long way to getting many of the needed vitamins and minerals.
As I was driving, I frequently don’t remember to open the sunroof of my car, but lately, I open it at night to look at the stars (that is when I’m not driving) and the moon.
Let the powers of nature be the friend that comes at no cost.
What we all know is that Vitamine D helps support bone growth and health.
Honeyskin

Vit D helps to promote influence cell growth,
your immune function, keeps inflammation in check, and keeps your nervous system working properly.
Vitamin D helps calcium to absorb in your body. The lack of enough vitamin D can cause osteoporosis and bone fractures.
Foods rich in Vitamin D are Halibut, Canned Light Tuna, herring and sardines, salmon, Fortified Orange Juice, egg yolks, mushrooms, Cod liver oil, and many other types of foods
Have a great sunny day and let Vitamin D do its job!
