Focus For The New Year

Hello Readers,

Happy holidays to you and your families.  I’m glad to be back as I recover from a unexpected fall.  Being in the medical field myself, really help me to understand so much about the care needed to get better.  This is why I write about safety often on this blog, because so much can happen in a blink of an eye. Most falls are accidental, or dued to negligence of some sort.  Do be safe in everything you do. Most people recover from a fall, but other can have lifetime injuries that can be life changing.

As we approach the new year, have you been thinking of how you can improve our present situation with so many changes that have occurred this year including the Pandemic, climate change and war?  Have you reflected back to what you have already contributed to make the world better in some sort of way? And now, as you plan for your future, are you doing something for yourself to enhance your health, financial and family connections?

Though we can’t solve all problems of the world, it is those little things we do to make a dent in not only yourself, but that of others.

Give yourself credit for all the wonderful things you do for others.  Even write it down if you need to, because we forget all that we have done for others and forget your own needs.

Again, well wishes for you for the holidays, and always think a little about tomorrow.  There’s a lot to talk about as we head into 2024. Praying for peace in the world could be the best start.  Saving Earth from the turmoil of humans towards each other, is truly something to be concern about.

Yes, there’s a lot to talk about and do. Climate change have made more people homeless than ever before.  Affordable homes are greatly needed and equality in education and pay really affect the American economy. Just one piece of the puzzle missing will not give you the complete picture, to see, understand, and react for change.

Thank you for visiting this blog.  My best advice for the year is to stop, look, listen, learn and react.  Be grateful for all you have, and don’t take anyone for granted.  Even if someone you really don’t care to be speaking to them-someone you know already and is sane- it’s good to respond back in some form, because they deserve that respect as a human-being.  There is such a thing as limited friendships. Some friends you know you can talk about certain subjects and others you can’t.  You’ve got to know your people.  Seriously!

With so much tracking going on, you don’t have to say in your texting, exactly where you’re going or coming from to those you don’t want to share that information.  To yourself, be your own best friend.

Talk soon, (looking forward to your comments.)

Gift Ideas For The Holidays

GIFT iDEAS fOR THE HOLIDAYS AND ANY OLD TIME

Hello and Welcome to Creative Wonders to living!

This morning, I was just thinking of the holidays and how everyone is going out and spending all that money to purchase gifts for others.  Many of you don’t really have the money to spend, but here, listen.  There are so many things you can do the crack the code of saving money and being creative all the same time.

First of all, do you know the person you are buying for?  Have you spoken to them about what’s on their wish list?  Do you like them enough to put them on your list in the first place?

What I’ve found out is that people’s likes and dislikes change and you need to know a little about what’s happening in that person’s life before you buy a gift.  Maybe they would like you to pay a bill (that means money-no one’s going to tell you the electricity is due to be turned off- or buy a  food item or an item to prepare the food with, such as a blender or juicer. Those are items I think could be helpful and long-lasting. You can throw in a recipe while you’re at it.  Decorate your own recipe card with a special note to them like,  “You’re So Special”, “Try This and Don’t Forget To Invite Me For A Taste”,  “My Favorite Recipe”,  “You Are What You Eat”.  You can go far with this one (iHoneyskindea). Make it funny and humorous.

The other idea I have is to make a pattern of something  (a hat, a scarf, a tote bag, etc.) or instructions to something that is doable for others.  This idea, will flip a switch in somebody’s brain and the lightbulb will come on, and perhaps they will try it and improve on what you have created for them.  Serendipity is such a great thing!

*When I find the time, I will draw a picture of a simple hat and scarf that need very little sewing.  I’ll include it in this article.

Ok, now,  the next Idea, is to show them how to fix something.  Many women especially if single, or a career women, always speak about needing a handyman to do things.  If you know how to fix a particular fixture in your home, you can draw pictures or write out, even video how to do it.  Another idea for this particular subject is to guide them to a video or book that could teach them.  I subscribe to the amazing  “Family Handyman Magazine” that has all sorts of DIY projects and hard copy books they create with oodles of at-home DIY projects.

Yes, you can be creative in the spirit of the holidays by just being there and giving from your heart, mind and soul.

Making Plans For Your Holiday Shopping/Save Money/Be Creative

Holiday Shopping On the Creative side

Hello Everyone!

Yes, it’s Holiday time again and everyone is running around now to make plans for the gifts they will purchase for friends, family, and associates.

There are many apps to help you find those great sales!  Truly, this time of year is an opportunity to get together with people you haven’t had time to connect with due to this terrible pandemic we’re in.

Word of caution. Only spend what you can afford.  Also, check with your family members, what they would like to have as a present.  Gift cards are still a great gift because they decide and spent on items they want.   What I find out about teens,  as I have 3 grandchildren, they prefer to have money.  You can also through in something special if you have just got to give something personal.

Here is a list of items I believe would be universal for the times!

      1.   PPE bundle package-mask, hand sanitizers, gloves,

      2.  A gift card for Netflix subscriptions

      3.  A subscription to Ancestry -many people are searching for their family origins.

      4.  A membership to AAA- When your auto breaks down, there’s nothing like a road service you can call.

     5.  Buy a stock for anyone.  You can also order books or booklets on  “How To Buy A Stock’, or the introduction to ‘Buying Stocks’.

       6. Interest-related books are tops on my list for anyone, once you know their interest.

     7.    You can also have a meet-up with family and friends and have a gift exchange at the park festival.  Hi, you’re outside and the barbecue grills are out there for maybe roasting some marshmallows and a hotdog.   Everyone can go for a walk while there and have fun talking about what a good idea this was.  Gifts only need to have age or hint of what’s in it and through it in a big basket or decorated box and Vola, you have “Christmas in the Park’ celebration !!  Take pictures and share them later with all who were there!  You can also do the same thing in your backyard-especially if you have good parking and plenty of space for the kids to run around.  To add to this, you can have some fun games for the kids and adults to do.  If there’s snow, bring some food coloring and color your snowman or snowwomen for that matter, and through in some light in the dark sticks, and here you go! You can’t say I don’t have an imagination!

I hope these listed ideas push you into a positive start or finish for your holiday shopping.

The best holiday gift you can really give is that of caring.  Just to call and wish your loved ones a happy holiday, is everlasting!
