What Can You Do To Save Electricity On The Power Grid In Stormy Snowy Weather

SAKI

Hello All,

Yes, we truly have Climate Change all around us as we look and see the snow flaring down and reports of more snow and freezing ice from our weatherman.

This brings me to the thought as I write on my blog, is how can I reduce the electricity I’m using.

One of the things to do is to cut off electrical appliances I’m not using or don’t need right now.

Right away, I cut off the Printer and the Air Purifier. The coffer pot cuts off by itself, but if it’s on for a while before auto shut-off, you can turn it off as soon as you get that one tea or two tea you want.

If you are working from home, you might forget to turn off your outside lights. We all can do our parts to save on electricity. Just doing one small thing from millions of people can ensure that the power grids don’t overload.

Computers and Routers can be turned off when not used or even when you are briefly moving away to do something else. While turning off appliances you’re not using, you just as well pull out the plug as electricity is still running through the lines many times.

You can save on electricity if you wear layered clothing.

So stay warm, stay safe, as extreme weather, command extreme measures.

Let’s not take electricity for granted, but to know that we can be a part of the solutions to sacrifice, and preserve for another day!

My heart goes out to all of the people affected by the Texas Unprecedented snowstorm. Surely to God, I’ve been there myself and am still trying to get things together, while helping other people.

The last year and half was dedicated to my friend Amelia who just passed of Lung Cancer. We built a friendship, gardening and life experiences. We also share grandchildren together as we are in-laws to each other.

If you are able to help in the Texas Disaster, check out this link from CNN with a listing of organizations that are on the ground and running. Check the link below from CNN.

Foods That Increase Your Vitamin D Levels In Relations To The Covid-19 Virus Battle

Did You Know . . that many of the people infected with the Covid-19 virus had a low Vitamin D Level?

Hello Everyone!

I hope you are having a better new year as we continue the fight against covid-19.

Many people are still being tested on a regular basis and for safety reasons when they enter a hospital or any place where more individuals are at risk. Thank goodness, the vaccines are here to help save lives and to prevent people from getting sick.

However, what can we do on our own besides masking, keeping distance, washing hands, and no large gathering? It’s Food! Did you know that many people who got sick or died had a low Vitamin D level? After researching on the internet and watching the Dr. Oz show yesterday, my attention went to the doctor who spoke about the types of foods we should eat to boost our immune system. And so there is another thing to be mindful about. I will place a link to the 11 foods that will boost your immune system and help maintain or increase your Vitamin D levels.

If you are spending time outdoors in the sun, you are ahead of the game. The sun is a natural way of maintaining a healthy level of Vit D. (That is if you know what your levels are)

Eating the daily amount of recommended fruit every day, you are surely boosting your immune system as there are many types of fruits to eat. Some of them are oranges, lemons, pineapples, and others.

Here is the link to find other types of foods that will boost your immune system. Check the link below. The article was written by Rebecca Strong on Dec 17, 2020, and fact-checked by Kiersten Hickman

11 Best Immune-Boosting Foods to Fight COVID-19 | Eat This Not That

Looking forward to your comments. Does anyone have a healthy recipe for a healthy drink? Sometimes you can get children drinking healthier when you make a great juice drink and add other ingredients they might not like. They’ll never know with such a healthy juice mix or smoothie.

Yes, foods high in Vitamin D will give you the edge to staying well and not as sick if you do get (and I hope you never get it!) Covid-19. We are still learning about this disease, so monitor yourself and your family daily. Check the temperatures if you feel warm. A temp over 100 could mean you might even have the flu. If you have any flu-like symptoms, don’t just worry about it, get tested and follow up with the care you need. Surely, we will get through this! My deepest condolence to those who have lost love ones and friends and those affected by this most contagious virus. Well wishes to all who have recovered and doing better. Keep records as much as you can. Journaling these days can help you immensely. Watch the news and read updates on your phone and computers about this disease, because every day, there seems to a new update on covid-19.

Tweet and Facebook your friends and associates about any updates you find as some people are so busy, they might not catch up until days later.

Many people are isolated at this time and surely to goodness, call people you know that are. Suggest activities they can do to keep the spirits up. Face-time if you can. Do less texting and call preferably as the human voice can be therapeutic all to itself.

So, stay positive and keep following the CDC guidelines to be safe. We will get through this and there will be light at the end of the tunnel.

Youth In A Bottle For A Dollar/The Secret to Younger looking Hands

Don’t Let Your Hands Tell Your Age

It looks like after 40 years old, we start to see major changes in our skin.

The fight against wrinkles and dry sky is on! Everyone want to remain youthful for as long as we can; that is if you can afford plastic surgery.

What I’ve been noticing is how dry my hands have been lately. I don’t know if its the hand sanitizer I’m using, as we are in a pandemic and frequent hand washing is a must or what.

Rinsing your hands with water and applying your moisturizer is very helpful each time you wash your hands.

One of the things I can suggest is to drink water. Drink at least the recommended amount of water a day, which is 8 glasses. A healthy diet is of the utmost importance! Exercise promotes good cardio-vascular function; thereby, aiding the digestive system to distribute the nutrients you take in. As what goes in, must come out, don’t let constipation be your problem. Eat a recommended amount of fiber foods and drinks.

Dehydration can cause dry skin where skin creases show with more prominence. Water, again is important to hydrate.

What I found out is that massaging your hands will help the circulation and stimulate the muscles in your hands. Massage the fingers as well-its part of your hand and you will see the difference afterward.

Exercise your hands with an open and close motion when doing your stretches for the day. Or, just exercise your hands wherever you are.

Youth in a bottle is what I’ve been using are coconut oil and coconut cream. Your hands will stay moist longer. Apply generously 2 or 3 times a day and you will see results. Keep one in your purse and use it at work. The skin is very absorbent so several applications are very necessary.

So take care of your hands and you will feel great to see a much youthful hand.

Other uses for Coconut oil, my little secret- is that it is great for shining shoes or synthetic boots, and for putting life back into your wig-this one I really love as your wigs will last longer and therefore save you money from having to purchase another when it starts to look worn.

If you like these suggestion, let me know if they work for you! And yes, the Dollar Store can truly be your friend!

Happy New Year As We Face The Future

make this day great quote board

I just want to wish all of my readers a Happy New Year and a much Better New Year from 2020.

We are truly up against many challenges. The pandemic has affected all of our lives as we go about our daily lives to try to experience some bits of normalcy.

I am sure that we will come out of this, if we all do everything possible to protect ourselves and that of others. My condolence to all who have lost love ones, family, and friends due to this virus.

Thank goodness we have the vaccine that will add a layer of protection against this horrible disease that have affected many. Unfortunately, many people have died because of the Covid-19 virus. Learn all you can about this vaccine and decide if it is for you. There is a lot we don’t know but what I do know is that it (the vaccine) don’t contain the virus, but protects you from having the virus enter your cells. I will place links here for you to read and learn about what’s in the vaccine. We should be thankful for science to respond to this virus as soon as they did.

Check out the two links to learn more about the ingredients in each of these vaccines.

Pfizer COVID vaccine ingredient list: ‘Nothing too surprising there’ (usatoday.com)

Meanwhile, protect youself with all of the CDC guidelines. There are many places where you can get your vaccine. Speak with your doctor about taking the vaccine; especially if you have allergies and concerns of you taking the vaccine.

Lets make this a successful year in combating this virus. Support your community , family and know that one person can make a difference.

Being Safe In This Era Of Covid Pandemic

Hello all!

I hope you are faring well with all the events of this pass year. We have a vaccine or vaccines, but we have a way to go in that we are uncertain about many things.

Communication and sharing of information is important right now. So keep listening to your news and from any reliable resource out there that could be of help.

As I believe all lives are important, do be on top of what’s good for you in saving you life and the lives of your family. We will get through this.

Truly, we are our brothers keepers. If one is in trouble, we all are in trouble. A Pandemic disease is a clear example of how one thing affects all of us.

I was just off the line to the NJ 211 information resource net work. They have information on their website as well that can help you in many other programs. Check the networks in your areas for more information as we try to get control of this virus, that have affected many nationwide.

Health safety

I pray for those we have losted, their families and loveones. It is sad that we were not notified about this in the beginning as we would have been on top of this situation and not be were we are.

So, don’t waste any time and be proactive about your life! Do it now, not tomorrow.
Also, we all should be grateful to all the scientist and everyone who is fighting the battle as it is all of us. I’m just grateful I got my computer back in working order to type this page, thanks to my brother Frank who is looking for a new job. He’s a tech

guy who is not only smart, but honest and has helped me out of some difficult situations when it come to technology and some personal matters. If you are looking for a tech person to assist you with a problem, or a job call, 856-419-3308 This is a south Jersey area.

I’ll be writing a bit more as time go by. I want to know what you are doing to keep busy during this Pandemic period and are you ideas to keep your children busy.

I’ll talk soon and hope that you continue to follow the CDC guidelines for safety.

We are up against a very important election year and as we face many challenges, we need to put the best person in the white house.

Though I’m Democratic, I also know that it is important to get our country back in a more united way. This country depends on all of us working together to build the country where it should be. As a nurse, discrimination has no place in my profession nor in my everyday life. You can’t separate the country and call it the United States of American.

So, let’s make a better America by casting your vote for the best that we can get. No one is perfect as we see, so it is up to us to make a change within any of the 2 parties that is usually on the voter’s ballot.

Also, by the way, I’m back from 3 months of having to go through the renewal of my domain from which I missed the message. So check you spam and make sure you don’t have to wait for the process to go through. Thankfully, my host company was very helpful in working out some of the details. I learned some new words in the process, such as Propagation and DNS lookup.

Everyone, please stay safe and listen to the scientist. You life is important to us. I’m sorry if you’ve lost a relative, friend or job associate. This Covid-19 has affected each and everyone of us.

Just to remember to smile under your mask and others will see it! Your eyes reveal a lot about how you feel. So smile, smile and smile. That idea could be contagious-a good contagious.

God bless you all and God Bless America and World Peace and Care!

Being Mindful In The Mist Of Corona Virus Attack

Health safety

Hello all,

My heart go out to all of those affected by the Corona Virus attack. No one really saw this coming in the way that it came and spread globally. I am thankful for all who are working hard to fight against this virus and save lives-and that is all of those following the rules of staying home, masking, and all of the other safety measures such as washing, hands, coughing in your elbow area or tissues, distancing at lease 6 ft, and not gathering in groups socially.

This article is piggyback on what is already set up as safety measures. These suggestions are my own and not an official mandate. we all have ideas and opinions and if you have any to add, do leave a comment.

  1. Keep your mouth and nose as clean as possible along with covering with a clean mask. Wash your mask at the end of the day and you might want to carry 2 with you at all times. Keep plastic bag with you for the soil mask.
  2. I suggest rinsing your mouth twice a day with an antiseptic or mouthwash and blowing your nose in tissues when you feel you need to clear of any dry secretions
  3. Start bringing your coffee to work instead of stopping by a store for it. This will prevent you from being exposed too much to other people. Wear your mask or any covering of mouth and nose if you do go shopping and outside anywhere. This virus is in the air, so really, we should have all been wearing a mask all the time in the first alert of this pandemic virus.
  4. When planning your shopping, try to cover all the areas of shops you need to visit so as to make too many trips and get more exposure. Some families have designated shoppers to do shopping for the whole family.
  5. Look out for others when you can when you see the need to help. I keep cans of food in my trunk just in case I see someone speaking or appearing to need food. You can share your knowledge of resources where people can get food and other necessities.
  6. Families might want to share times of cooking meals once a week or more so you don’t have to cook every day. You can drop it off instead of going into the house. It could be money-saving as well.
  7. Greeting to one another can be Japanese style-bending from the waist down, elbowing, foot touching, and by video-face-timing, skype, and other tech ways.
  8. You might want to make your own cloth mask. Youtube and Pinterest have many videos on how to make protective facial masks. I’m starting today to make a few for myself, family, and friends; hopefully, I can have the time to make extras for people I see here and there.
  9. By all means, keep up with the updates from the scientist and medical department on your TV and other Media channels of what you need to know.
  10. For those lottery players out there, you might want to play for the whole week your numbers so that you don’t have to go out every day to play. This will keep you from having less exposure.
  11. As much as we hate to do, start checking your life insurance as this virus can hit anyone at any time. Hopefully, you will recover from it if it does. So stay healthy and keep moving around.
  12. Don’t stay isolate: Call friends, neighbors, and family when you have the need to talk to someone. If you are having a mental health issue, reach out to the hospitals and mental health offices/ hotlines to seek help. You are not alone, and truly, these are trying times.

Thank you for visiting this page. We will get through this together. Stay hopeful, faithful and strong. Stay updated on the news from reliable sources and keep the focus on the fight for survival.

Also, remember, that the COVID-19 is not anyone’s fault as it is a virus that happened to jump from animals to humans. All people with this virus should not be discriminated against in any way, but to be treated with the utmost respect. It could happen to anyone-it could happen to you! Please report anyone who mistreats anyone with this virus as I have been hearing about personnel acting out of character against persons with this virus who happen to arrive at the hospital with symptoms- on the other side, all citizens must follow directions if you have symptoms and follow the rules (there might be another location the present hospital want you to go to instead as COVID-19 centers are set up at various locations. Call 911 if you are having difficulty breathing so that you can get immediate help. Do what you can to save your Life!

How To Prepare Your Family For Quarantine of the Corona Virus

A PANDEMIC TO FIGHT AGAINST

Hello Everyone

We all know how serious the Corona Virus Pandemic is to everyone! It is a situation that is a matter of life and death, no matter how we look at it!

So much is being done to understand not only what this Virus will do to us, but what to do in the interim. One of the things to do out of getting tested for the virus, for which we don’t have enough testing kits, but that of self-quarantine.

In this situation, quarantining is a type of isolation into space for a specific purpose as a caution against the spread of disease. (the dictionary definition is: the state, period, or place of isolation in which people or animals that have arrived from elsewhere or been exposed to an infectious or contagious disease are placed.)

What can we as citizens do to support the self-quarantine that is needed at this point-knowing we don’t have a vaccine to fight against the Corona Virus.

Here is a list of things you can do to protect yourself and your family.

  1. Good handwashing: soap and water and hand sanitizers. Wash your hands for 20 sec with friction and dry well-paper towels if you have them.
  2. No hand shaking-Alternatives is elbow tap, head bend acknowledgment, and a smile. Other methods are shown and other social media.
  3. Eat nutritious food and drinking juices with vitamin C and water
  4. Exercise. Go for walks to keep your body healthy and functioning.
  5. Look for food centers that will provide you with food for you and your children if need be. Also the elderly will need to be considered as well due to limited ability to get out and do all the running around to shop and pick up medications.
  6. Share in child care. Set up videos to check up on your child if they are of age to be left alone while you work. Take advantage of using your vacation and sick time now.
  7. Stock up on necessities, and start now to limit the use of any goods you use all the time so that when you really get low, start rationing them.
  8. Keep tuned in to your trusted media and trusted social media sites to keep up with the updates. The phone updates will be ongoing; just Make sure that it is one that you know and use most of the time. However, do compare notes when you visit other sites for information. Information can change from state to state and from county to county.
  9. *This article will be updated from now to the end of this virus. Please come back and view other information I can share with you! So share your information with others. Communication is very important at all times.
  10. Get Tested as soon as you can. To prevent the spread, testing is almost the number one thing we should have been able to do, but unfortunately, our country was the lease prepare, which raises questions about the present WH administration and our country.
  11. Explain to your young children what is going on and how they can protect themselves.
  12. Make sure your child has a structured schedule and know how to access their online classwork. Seek help if you don’t know. Reach out to the community, the municipalities, the health, and educational systems for any questions you have concerning anything concerning this whole situation as there is much to consider.
  13. Clean your home surfaces with disinfectant wipes, soap, and water, or bleach. Even hydrogen peroxide I’ve recently seen on the news today is also used for cleaning surfaces.
  14. Keeping your body clean and breathing in good air is helpful in your overall well-being.
  15. Don’t panic. Being calm can put less stress on the body, therefore, helping to maintain a good immune system.
  16. Take care of your respiratory system. Start with special attention to your oral care; brushing teeth, rinsing your mouth after meals, and cleaning your denture holders. This includes throwing away any toothbrushes you’ve used for over 3 months. Stock up on all your dental care supplies. Dust often in your house, and use hypoallergenic pillows cases when you can and avoid smoke, strong cleaning sprays and areas of any possible mold.
  17. If you are running a temperature-a temp over 104 degrees- and cough, call your doctor and follow his instructions. Perhaps a coronavirus testing kit can be delivered to you if suggested.
  18. Take a mask with you wherever you go, because if you feel you need it, in a crowded area or expected emergency where a large group of people are, you will have something to protect you.

So, everyone, stay strong and be proactive as well as reactive. We will get through this. I love all of you and wish you well in this fight against the Covana Virus!

Cute Doggie Needs Urgent Surgery-Fund Raising

DONATE WITH YOUR HEART!

Trotter Needs You

My friends’ dog is in need of surgery for a rectal tumor that needs urgent surgery.

Trotter is a Shih Tzu who is smart, loving and interactive.

Me being a nurse and helping out the owner-my daughter’s mother-in-law- who is dealing with her own lung tumor, I see a marked similarity here;; they are both in the same situation-fighting for their life. Each one is keeping the other going forward in a very special way. “Life Giving Life”

Dogs are very sensitive and they know when their owners are sick or something wrong. We have not even reached the tip of the iceberg to know how much dogs and other pets know, see, and feel about us and our surroundings. They are truly our children, and one with a keen mind and good heart.

I made a Go Fund Me campaign to help raise funds to help pay for the surgery. Go check out my Go Fund page to read more about Trotter as I have grown to love him too.

The love of a pet truly returns the love many times over and many times our pets save lives in more than one way.

Thank you for your donations! I hope you support your local Animal Shelter and Hospitals as well.

There are many ways to support your local Animal Shelters and Hospital. You can support them with monetary funds, blankets, animal foods specific, walking the pets, etc. Adoption is high on the list for supporting the shelter. When you get a pet, do some research on the breed and be sure you can take care of an animal, because it is a responsibility.
