The Community Impact of These 2 Hospital Closing in Pennsylvania

COMMUNITY IMPACT WHEN 2 HOSPITAL CLOSES IN PENNSYLVANIA

Hello Friends,

The closing of any hospital leaves a community without the needed resources they need for medical care.   The upcoming closing of  Jennersville Hospital and Brandywine Hospital impacts the workers and the community.

Never before have we ever needed hospitals to remain open than now.  With the crisis of the Pandemic and so many people affected by it,  we need to fight against hospitals closing.

It is expected that the Urgent Care  Centers of the community take up the load, but will they be able to do so?  Many patients will still need surgery, mental health care, and covid care.

Many of the patients will need to go quite a long distance to get to a hospital for care which could be a life or death matter.  The loss of jobs can affect the community also in a great way.  Being unemployed places more stress on families already struggling to survive. How will they pay rent and other expenses of living?

I wrote a letter to President Biden to see if he can do something to keep these hospitals open. There was a response of concern.  So if you could write a letter to your Congressman, Governor, Representative, and to President Biden about this urgent matter.  Hopefully,  something can be done to keep these hospitals open.

You can read the story as reported by Siafa Lewis.

Winter Mindful Safety Tips

Greetings to all!

Thank you for visiting my website. I hope you are well and making plans for the Spring.  But let’s enjoy the winter, too.

What I want to speak about are the many things you want to be mindful of as we push forward in 2022.

1.  With the many fires we’ve had from the Christmas season to now, one of the safety factors is having working fire and carbon monoxide detectors.    One tip I have is to place a sticker on the device of the last date you changed your batteries.  If you make this a habit, you will be ahead of the game.   You can also place a sticker on your refrigerator as well.  Not everyone uses the daylight saving times method.

2.  With the crime rate so high, what changes in your life have you made to be safer?  Surely surveillance cameras do help in many ways.  However, many crimes are occurring in shopping centers, and on the road. Do you know what to do if approached by someone who wants your wallet or handbag and car?   The authorities always say to give it to them as your life is more important.  Parking in well-lit areas really is a deterrent. Shopping with a friend can always be helpful. Never leave your child in the car, even for a second, and never leave your car running.  Criminals look for the opportunity to steal from you any chance they get. They sometimes study people well from a distance and have a good idea, who is more vulnerable.

3.  In a storm, make sure you keep your phone fully charged.  Having backup lighting from flashlights, candles, and other sources is a must. Having a generator for power is another option, but it comes with many safety factors.

4. I’ve written about a “Go” bag on my blog. What you put in it are items you might need for a few days away from your house up to being away months. You might want to place in there important documents like your birth certificate, medication list, emergency meds, your insurance companies-life insurance, home insurance- driver’s licenses, and some picture identification.  You might want to include several bottles of water, dry foods, and protein snacks. Now if you have a  “Go” for the home, you might want to make another for the car. The car might be your new home for a few days in a major disaster.

5.  To be mindful, is to also think of others.  Check on neighbors, friends, and relatives who might be elderly or incapacitated in some way. Also, make a plan for your children and for your animals in case of an emergency.  Have a cage ready for your pets with items they need for a few days and a “go” bag for your children.  If you don’t have time to get your “go” bag, remember, much of it can be replaced.    So, be safe and do what’s best for the moment.

6.   Because, we are in this nightmare of a  Pandemic, be safe by keeping up with the news as of any changes made that you need to follow.  Share what information you have with others and don’t be afraid to inquire about anything in question.  I always, say, do your own research and be proactive.

This is it for now.  I wish everyone a safe and beautiful winter and to remember, we have to get through this before we get to that. Live in the moment and make this day count for something beautiful for you or perhaps, for someone else. However, just be mindful of what’s important to you!

Staying Strong in the Midst of a Pandemic/Two Types of Distancing

Reflecting on this year of living Through The Pandemic

Hello to All,

Yes, most of us are making it through the end of the year, surviving covid-19 that have mutated a few times and as we are looking at the latest mutation called Omicron.

There is much to know about this mutated virus, but for sure, scientists are keeping pace with every new discovery to find recommendations to fight against it.

The best thing we as people of the world have done is to get vaccinated, avoid crowds, and wear masks.  Washing your hands and using sanitizers is a mainstay of what we all should do every day.

Through all of this, we are trying to keep the holiday spirit up and to have a life of normalcy.

What more can you do to fight against this virus.  I would say to keep talking to your children, friends, and people on the street of continue with all safeguards to keep this virus at bay until it’s gone or in a controllable state.

If you need to change your plans, please do so and find other ways to celebrate the holidays, weddings, and any other event you enjoy.  Who says that Christmas has to be celebrated on December 25th?  You can break up the gatherings by having different days to celebrate so that if exposed, the whole family won’t be affected by this virus.  Plan outdoors as much as possible, an event everyone will love while masking and keeping up a healthy spirit.  Try not to spend too much time alone.  This isolation is really getting too many people who are starting to get very irritable and down. A Pandemic hotline would be a good idea at this time.  Many people already have family issues where communication is cut off, (some for a good reason) and feel even more isolated.  I believe some people are suffering from depression more than they will admit to.   I suggest that anyone who feels they need any kind of help in dealing with the virus,  family issues, and friendships, seek it for you are not alone.

One of the most important things you can do is to keep busy doing what you love or explore what it is you would like to do.  Make each day count to get things done you’ve put off and to be good to yourself.  Talk to your grandchildren and let them know that everything will be alright because we have had viruses before and there are vaccines that even eradicated some of them.

Take a little time to talk to someone every day.  You will be surprised by how much better you will feel.

A little kindness goes a long way.  We don’t know the future, but we do know about today. So, make it the best day ever!

Enjoy the spirit of the season and enjoy the music, enjoy the lights.  It is a wonderful gift to experience what has always been our norm, but most of all, don’t let anyone or any negative situation change who you are.  I find that people who are unhappy with their lives, enjoy making others miserable and hurt.  You must know that this is not something you want to keep in your memory and know that it’s not your fault.  Especially if you have done all you can do to make a wrong right.  Most of the time,  some people are just who they are, miserable people who like to make others feel bad or to blame them for their troubles. There are some people who need more help than we can give.

Distancing can mean more than keeping the virus from spreading but to ensuring that your good spirit is strong enough to survive anything that will hurt you.

With a beautiful smile on your face, you will wake up to the gratefulness of life for another day and share and spread the goodness to others.

What Do You Do About The New Corona Virus Variant Omicron

Sudden Alert about the New Corona Variant, Omicron

What you can do now about this new variant.

Did you hear the news of the new Corona Variant,  Omicron,  that was found in South Africa and making its way to other countries?  They found strands in Hong Kong and now many countries are making immediate efforts to control the spread.

Because this virus is different from the other virus, scientists are researching just how this virus will affect the human population. There are so many unknowns at present about this Omicron coronavirus variant.  They know it is different and can permeate the human body whether vaccinated or not.  The study is ongoing at a rapid pace to learn as much as possible about this new variant. We have science, vaccines, and other medicines to help us fight against getting very sick and dying.

What you can do is to keep informed about this sudden change in the virus as well as follow recommendations to get your vaccines.  So make sure you get your news from a reputable source such as the CDC and  WHO.

Start speaking to your children, other family members, and friends about keeping the mask on at least.  We are in a fight for our lives as this virus won’t let up.

That means, that there will be more changes down the road that might even include a shutdown.  If we stop the spread, perhaps we can stop the virus in its tracks.  That might mean, start limiting yourself in going out in crowds and making any big plans for large gatherings.  It’s almost like quarantining yourself even though you don’t have the virus or any symptoms of it.

If we all keep up the fight, surely we can beat this virus.  Most importantly, we need to prevent the deaths and increase our focus in protecting others as well as ourselves.

Start making plans for any changes that might occur.  When shopping, stock up on things that you use often, so you don’t need to shop that often.  Have a backup plan for your children in case they will need to go back to virtual learning.

Most of all, try to not panic and share your information with others.

I thank everyone who is doing what needs to be done to fight an invisible enemy.

MY prayers go out to those who have loved ones and I know that we will overcome this horrific virus.

Stay strong, stay healthy.  By eating a balanced diet, keeping positive, and exercising, you stand a chance to move beyond this virus.

Outside activities should be high on your list.  There’s more ventilation outdoors.  Plan many outdoor activities during this winter, because most people stay indoors during these months, giving the virus more opportunity to get to you.  I always wondered about why so many of the nursing home people got sick and died from this virus if their limitation of movement was part of the reason.  That is why I believe moving around or exercising is very important.  Don’t be afraid or shy about wearing a mask in anyone’s house you visit, because you just never know!  I did have a relative who came over once this year, but he wore a mask as well as I. His wife called me the next day that he was in the hospital with covid.  Thank God he’s ok, but he really went through some changes having that disease and getting back to health.  I am thankful my tests were negative and I never got sick so far with this coronavirus.  I was thankful that his wife let me know as it seems that many people are looking at it as a taboo plague that they don’t want people to know they have.

So keep up to date with any news that might come out of the CDC

Feel free to leave your comments.  I welcome your thoughts.

Gift Ideas For The Holidays

GIFT iDEAS fOR THE HOLIDAYS AND ANY OLD TIME

Hello and Welcome to Creative Wonders to living!

This morning, I was just thinking of the holidays and how everyone is going out and spending all that money to purchase gifts for others.  Many of you don’t really have the money to spend, but here, listen.  There are so many things you can do the crack the code of saving money and being creative all the same time.

First of all, do you know the person you are buying for?  Have you spoken to them about what’s on their wish list?  Do you like them enough to put them on your list in the first place?

What I’ve found out is that people’s likes and dislikes change and you need to know a little about what’s happening in that person’s life before you buy a gift.  Maybe they would like you to pay a bill (that means money-no one’s going to tell you the electricity is due to be turned off- or buy a  food item or an item to prepare the food with, such as a blender or juicer. Those are items I think could be helpful and long-lasting. You can throw in a recipe while you’re at it.  Decorate your own recipe card with a special note to them like,  “You’re So Special”, “Try This and Don’t Forget To Invite Me For A Taste”,  “My Favorite Recipe”,  “You Are What You Eat”.  You can go far with this one (iHoneyskindea). Make it funny and humorous.

The other idea I have is to make a pattern of something  (a hat, a scarf, a tote bag, etc.) or instructions to something that is doable for others.  This idea, will flip a switch in somebody’s brain and the lightbulb will come on, and perhaps they will try it and improve on what you have created for them.  Serendipity is such a great thing!

*When I find the time, I will draw a picture of a simple hat and scarf that need very little sewing.  I’ll include it in this article.

Ok, now,  the next Idea, is to show them how to fix something.  Many women especially if single, or a career women, always speak about needing a handyman to do things.  If you know how to fix a particular fixture in your home, you can draw pictures or write out, even video how to do it.  Another idea for this particular subject is to guide them to a video or book that could teach them.  I subscribe to the amazing  “Family Handyman Magazine” that has all sorts of DIY projects and hard copy books they create with oodles of at-home DIY projects.

Yes, you can be creative in the spirit of the holidays by just being there and giving from your heart, mind and soul.

Making Plans For Your Holiday Shopping/Save Money/Be Creative

Holiday Shopping On the Creative side

Hello Everyone!

Yes, it’s Holiday time again and everyone is running around now to make plans for the gifts they will purchase for friends, family, and associates.

There are many apps to help you find those great sales!  Truly, this time of year is an opportunity to get together with people you haven’t had time to connect with due to this terrible pandemic we’re in.

Word of caution. Only spend what you can afford.  Also, check with your family members, what they would like to have as a present.  Gift cards are still a great gift because they decide and spent on items they want.   What I find out about teens,  as I have 3 grandchildren, they prefer to have money.  You can also through in something special if you have just got to give something personal.

Here is a list of items I believe would be universal for the times!

      1.   PPE bundle package-mask, hand sanitizers, gloves,

      2.  A gift card for Netflix subscriptions

      3.  A subscription to Ancestry -many people are searching for their family origins.

      4.  A membership to AAA- When your auto breaks down, there’s nothing like a road service you can call.

     5.  Buy a stock for anyone.  You can also order books or booklets on  “How To Buy A Stock’, or the introduction to ‘Buying Stocks’.

       6. Interest-related books are tops on my list for anyone, once you know their interest.

     7.    You can also have a meet-up with family and friends and have a gift exchange at the park festival.  Hi, you’re outside and the barbecue grills are out there for maybe roasting some marshmallows and a hotdog.   Everyone can go for a walk while there and have fun talking about what a good idea this was.  Gifts only need to have age or hint of what’s in it and through it in a big basket or decorated box and Vola, you have “Christmas in the Park’ celebration !!  Take pictures and share them later with all who were there!  You can also do the same thing in your backyard-especially if you have good parking and plenty of space for the kids to run around.  To add to this, you can have some fun games for the kids and adults to do.  If there’s snow, bring some food coloring and color your snowman or snowwomen for that matter, and through in some light in the dark sticks, and here you go! You can’t say I don’t have an imagination!

I hope these listed ideas push you into a positive start or finish for your holiday shopping.

The best holiday gift you can really give is that of caring.  Just to call and wish your loved ones a happy holiday, is everlasting!

Why McAuliffe Should Be Governor of Virginia

Voting for Terry McAuliffe in Virginia Will Make America Better!!

Hello and Welcome to Creative Wonders To Living

As a Virginian now living in New Jersey, I have gotten more involved in our politics and enjoy trying to add to a positive change.  There are so many things I’m learning about our democracy and how it works.  What I have been most impressed with is the candidate, Terry McAuliffe.  I saw him on a special Book Review at a Library program- that I will have to go back and find-and was very impressed with his views on many of the problems we are facing in our country.    Yes, he was on a C-Span tv show. Perhaps you can get a rebroadcast on YouTube or Google it.

Here is a link to a  glimpse of who he is.  McAuliffe calls for Virginia to ‘diversify’ teacher base, citing the percentage of White teachers (msn.com)

He just knows how our system work and should work and is not afraid to bring out what needs to change.  Also, he was the Governor of Virginia before. Experience is everything!

So research whoever is the candidate,  and make a wise decision for what you think is good for our country.

One President can’t make good changes or any changes if others don’t want America to be what it should be.  The country is almost a century behind because of politics between the 2 parties.  Maintaining and seeing our country grown should not be a personal matter of the politician, but it should be national with extensions to the global world when making the right decisions and plans for the future.  There must be a plan for our country which includes analysis, and vision to push this country forward.

Terry McAuliffe is all of those things as you read this link I’ve included in this article.

Who knows, he might be our next president; something I would invite immensely.  Thank God we have someone in the administration that is fighting to stabilize this country that has many concerns.

Yes, Please Vote for your candidate. If I could vote in Va, I would vote for Terry McAuliffe!

You have the right to vote for whomever you want to vote for as it is your right. However, no matter who you vote for, check their records and know who they are and what they bring to the table to make our country the best it can be.

Yes, you have the power in your hand with your vote, but what people don’t do afterward is to make them-you candidate- accountable for the job you voted them in for.  Enough already!

The filibuster as we see happening in front of our eyes is going to be a setback for our country, because, not every politician is thinking for a better America.  It’s about the power of their position over another party.  The 2 parties have got to work together.  A negative has got to turn positive sometimes because as we look back, the time of the century will show and tell you what went wrong and how it could have been much better. The intelligence of the American people will not allow this slant in our system anymore.

So the chips are not in for the cars, Who has this power to stop the cars from being sold?  Why are we not producing our own microchips for cars?  This is an example of what needs to change.  We must get back to producing our own products.  That’s real power.  Cresting and Manufacturing your own products.

Check out this link on why I think Terry McAuliffe is Great for America!

McAuliffe calls for Virginia to ‘diversify’ teacher base, citing the percentage of White teachers (msn.com)

Ok,

These are my opinion.  Do you agree? Do you disagree? What do you think? I’m looking forward to hearing from you.  I respect your opinion. I’m a people person and will love to invite you here to my little world!

Talk soon,  Be safe.

Voting IS Your Right In America! No Time To Sleep AT The Wheel !

GO TELL IT ON THE MOUNTAIN:  VOTE, VOTE, VOTE

Hello, All,

No matter who you; are, we in America are one country,  but now as I see a clearer picture.   it is a country of 2 and 3 thoughts of what democracy is as a whole.  The whole is broken into many pieces that are not creative or even practical.

So when this country starts living in the truth, nothing will get done and things will deteriorate more and more.  We have many issues that are so problematic, that there might not be a recovery.  So much money wasted on a bunch of nonsense, that it will take many years to get back on track and start moving forward for the country as a whole.

Maybe for the first time, we see how far back we are as a country because the truth from the get-go has not been seen and acted upon.  History is the destroyer of the system as it is in that still, we do not have equal rights and equal opportunities.

Though voting is important, what can one person do to make a change in our country from which many other countries benefit?

No matter who’s in office, we must track the work they do and make them accountable for what is needed in this country.  That means all levels of our system-that include preserving some land for the animals to exist. Taking away their habitat is truly a crime to behold.  To go forward, we must go back. Go back to Nature, Go back to respecting humanity, Go back to correcting the wrongs of the pass. and Go back to communication and understanding other’s cultures and what they have contributed to America and the world and giving them recognition for the work they have done.

And so your vote covers many, many issues that confront us today.  From conception in the womb to life to a good healthy young-old age,  there are needs and nurturing of all groups of people.

So voting is not just about a right to vote, but voting for the best person to get the job done and a person who has a heart and compassion for all people.

This country has got to save itself before it can save anyone else.

We can’t promote the drug industry and lock people up after they have destroyed themselves, leaving the taxpayers with more burdens when we should be promoting better health,  strong focus on everyone getting a great education,  and moving the country in a more sustainable way of life and most of all, protect the earth.  It’s all we got for now.

The gun violence we see today has a lot to do about mental health issues,  the sale of guns availability and selling to those who don’t get registered and have background checks, the deteriorating family structure, lack of follow-up on children with special needs, the lack of jobs, the lack of male and female mentorship, poverty, racism, and the unequal opportunity for African-American and other challenged groups of people,  the fair practice of equal opportunity.

So read about your candidate, search your conscience, and do the right thing! VOTE! and Vote Every election. ( Your primary election can be just as important and the general elections.  The primary election is a factor of those who are the ones who are running your local government.  There’s a lot more to speak about the importance of a primary election.  A lot.  I will speak more about that in the future.

Thank you for visiting my website and I really appreciate you voting and encouraging others to do likewise.  Social media is truly a great tool to spread the news of anything important to you.  You can do something about that state of our American system. Just start talking to people-anywhere, anytime, and anyone.

GO TELL IT ON THE MOUNTAIN!  VOTE, VOTE, VOTE!!

How Your Vote Is Suppressed/The ACLU Tell It Like It Is!

Are You Giving Up Your Voters Rights?

Hello Friends, Family, And Associates,

Voters suppression is real.  There are so many ways that your vote can be suppressed and that is something we all should not let happen-at least to know what are the ways of voter’s suppression. Many people just don’t understand why all the fuss  One reason for the fuss of the change,  in the voter’s rights are the changes in the law.  While you’re sleeping,  other politician are not and is trying to figure out how to maintain their status quo. Well, whether we like it or not the numbers are changing as there are already more black and brown people in the world, let alone the USA.  However, that don’t mean how they will vote  party wise.  But Democracy still stands in the hearts of all elected. At least it should. I do not want to see another Hitler rise up from the ashes.

Being close to losing our democracy really hit us all in our faces for the first time not only now but in the recent events of the  last administration and throughout American History.   Democracy to me means freedom to express and exercise you rights and voicing your opinion for what you think is right-not only for you but for the country.

No matter who you are, your vote should count. It’s the American way-so I thought.

I am impressed with an article by the ACLU that really maps it out as of what voters suppression is about in a,b, c, terms that anyone can understand.

This is a link to an article written by the ACLU called, “Block The Vote”.

https://www.aclu.org/news/civil-liberties/block-the-vote-voter-suppression-in-2020/

Do share or your social media information and make copies or save it for yourself to reads and explain to others.  This is no time to rest and think everything is going to be  Ok when your very own life depends on the freedom we have always enjoyed to some point.

Yes, your vote should count!  Do support them if you can, so that they can fight for the rights of all people.

As a nurse forever, I took the oath of caring for all people no matter their status, race, economic condition, gender, religion, etc.  As Americans, the oath of caring for all humanity should stand and be a part of all of us always.

The Pandemic should teach us a lesson in that we are all in this together and we are.

Again, an amazing article that is worth reading and responding to.

P.S.  Check on your mail-in Sample Ballot if there are dates for you to vote early as well as by early mail-in  If you vote by an early mail-in, do read the direction carefully or your vote won’t be counted. THERE ARE SPECIFIC DIRECTIONS FOR MAIL-IN VOTING OPTIONS!

I welcome your comments on any of the subjects I’ve written.

The Crisis In Water Safety In Benton Harbor Michigan

Hello Friends, Family,  and Associates,

The water crisis in Benton Harbor Michigan is an ongoing issue affecting the lives of many and that of a predominantly African-American community that is still fighting for the right to have clean water.

This article is to continue to bring light to this issue and to give support to people who need the support, Now!

Here is a link to what has been seen on a TV station if you have not already seen it.  Do give support to Rev. Edward Pinkney.   he has a Go Fund Me page.

Echoes of Flint: Lead in Benton Harbor water must be addressed right away, outraged residents say (nbcnews.com)

Thank you for visiting this page and thank you for your support.  Sharing with social media will also be of great help.  Write a letter to your congressman and write a letter to Rev. Pinkney to let him know of your support.   Give what you can to the Go Fund Me page that is up as it will help to keep the information in for forefront of this very serious issue.

I will speak more about lead poisoning and lead in water.

Truly this issue should help in President Biden wanting to pass the Infrastructure Bill to help solve this problem all around our country.

Take matters of water safety into your own hands by getting your own water tested.   There are free kits in places like Home Depot and online for you to seek to get one done.  You might want to find out what else is in your water.

Really, no one should have lead in you drinking water or any other kind of water you use on a daily basis.  If buying water, look for the bottles that have the word “spring” on the label.  Springwater is the best water for drinking from what was reported to me by herbalist and others who are researchers of healthy drinking water.
