My adventure with being a songwriter came as no accident. It started from writing a Halloween musical Play
as myself, a teenager 16, for children with disabilities that ended me into the Profession Nursing Program I have been a part of even to this day. Though in reality, I thought I would be a dress designer.
I struggled with the musicality in its infant form to learning the languish of music which is music theory, Music history, and the many dynamics of playing an instrument for which mine was the piano. Why I tortured myself to never stop the study, yes, a song is a study, I’ll never knew. I ended up after 15 years of studying
music with the 2 albums and is considering starting a bigger project of a children’s musical. My last study was about 8 years ago at Temple University Prep Jazz Improv Music Study in the Musical Master Program.
Studying with Dr. Curtis Harmon, the grandfather of “Pieces of a Dream.” There, I was full blown in the world of Jazz. I entered there in the world of Coltrane, Oscar Peterson, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald and many more great, great artists. He was a magnificent Professors of Jazz and surly miss him for he went he transitioned into another world. But he left a Legacy in of his own of being an awesome educator of jazz musicality and a wonderful family man who inspired his children and grandchildren to enter the world of Jazz and music in general. The second album, “Love Songs Explosion”, was more of a treatise of a songwriting experience where I tried for various melodies. The First Album was experimental, with the thought, Can I write a Song? Does it have a Beginning, Middle and End? The Bridge (the break of a song) is a must, I thought to myself. My inner person of thought is conservative, but my mind is that of a writer of a story. Yes, I knew, there must be a story. A message, A thought. Any word that can connect with others. So, that is why when you listen to my music, you will feel that you have just escaped prison. The prison of following a path, a tradition, and an expectation of the same old, same old.
So, if you know or don’t know you have a special talent, why not you explore it.
